Finestrat holds the VII Vertical Kilometre Championship with the ascent and descent totalling 13,750 kilometres. 130 athletes to run to the peak of the Puig Campana Mountain.
Approximate 130 athletes from the Valencia Community and the rest of Spain will take part in the VII Vertical Kilometre Championship this Sunday on the Puig Campana Mountain.
This mountain trail is not for the faint hearted, it is a test that requires endurance, effort and respect for nature.
The club organising the event , C.E El Portell, will assign the bib numbers and chips on Saturday in the Sala Jove of the Casa de Cultura.
At 08:00 on Sunday, the bib numbers will be distributed and at 09:00 the first participantswill leave from the Plaça de la Unió Europea to the Font del Moli.
It will be from this point that the race to the summit will begin to avoid an extra 3.650 kilometres with an uphill climb of 1.020 metres and a gradient of 35,5%.
Runners will reach the peak taking the east side of the mountain known as El Carreró.
The descent will follow the Umbria del Puig Campana until the “Coll de Pouet” and then take the “Camí de la Serra” path until they reach the Font del Moli. The total distance is 13,750 kilometres.
Trophies will be awarded at 13:00 hours.
To take part, athletes should be older that 15 with a sports licence and coverage for mountain events. There are 5 Categories Masculine, Feminine, Cadet, Junior & Absolute with sub categories for promise, veteran and Master.
